BWF Tour Super 100 Level
The Super 100 is the lowest level in the BWF World Tour series, occupying the sixth level below the Super 300. Since it’s at the bottom of the pyramid, not many top-ranked badminton stars turn up in the Super 100 tournaments.
So it’s the lower-ranked players and the upcoming shuttlers who go against each other to ply their trade and boost their ranking. Nevertheless, these tournaments provide a great opportunity for the participating players to brush up their skills.
How many tournaments are part of the Super 100 level?
The number of tournaments taking place under the Super 100 level has varied since the BWF introduced the World Tour structure in 2018. In the inaugural year, there were eight events under this level, but the number has gone up and down after that.
However, as of 2025, the BWF has sanctioned 10 tournaments under the Super 100 level throughout the year. The Indonesia Master I, Ruichang China Masters, and the Vietnam Open have been part of the Super 100 since 2018, while seven new events have entered the level from 2022 onwards.
Abu Dhabi Masters, Baoji China Masters, Guwahati Masters, Indonesia Masters II, Kaohsiung Masters, Malaysia Super 100, and Odisha Masters are the latest entrants.
How many players feature in the Super 100 tournaments?
The Super 100 tournaments see 32 players and pairs make it to the main event in their respective disciplines. Those occupying better ranks on the Badminton World Rankings get direct entries, while others need to play in qualifiers to secure a spot.
How does the format of the Super 100 tournaments work?
The tournament organisers seed the top eight players and pit them against lower-ranked shuttlers in the initial rounds. There can be two or three rounds played in a knockout format, with the players making their way towards the quarter-finals.
Following the quarter-finals, players move into the semi-finals before the event concludes with a final between the two best performers.
How many points and prize money do players get?
The ranking points and prize money on offer in the Super 100 tournaments are quite low compared to the highest levels. These Super 100 tournaments have a decent prize pool of US$110,000, along with crucial ranking points.
